Barcelona moved to second in La Liga as Lionel Messi’s expertly-taken free-kick helped them to a 4-1 win against Almeria at the Nou Camp.

The Argentine struck after 24 minutes to put the hosts 2-0 ahead, adding to Alexis Sanchez’s close-range opener.

Angel Trujillo pulled one back for the visitors with a free header in the first half but late goals from Carles Puyol and Xavi sealed the win for Gerard Martino’s side.
