Botswana douse Flames again

Malawi suffered a demolishing 1-0 defeat to Botswana in an international friendly played at National Stadium in Gaborone on Tuesday evening.
The game was used to prepare for the Saturday World Cup qualifier against Nigeria in Calabar.
Coach Tom Saintfiet had hoped to have a look at several players for the first time.
He managed to rotate the players giving each one of them a run in the game.
South Africa based striker Jerome Ramatlhakwane scored the lone goal six minutes into the second half to hand Botswana 1-0 win over Malawi’s Flames in an international training game.
Malawi was using the game to shape up for crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Nigeria on Saturday away.
Botswana on the hand are preparing for a match against South Africa which bears no consequence to them as they are already out of the qualifiers.
Flames coach Tom Saintfiet tried new combinations among them Foster Namwela and James Sangala at the back while Robert Ng’ambi played as a supporting striker behind Atusaye Nyondo , in his trademark position at Platinum Stars in South Africa where he is scoring a lot of goals.
This was Flames second loss to Botswana in a training match after the Zebras edged the Flames by the same goal margin in February this year as the Flames were travelling to Namibia for a Fifa world cup qualifier which Flames won 1-0.
Although the team lost, coach Tom Saintfiet was confident hat the team could upset table in Nigeria.
“The result for the game is not important what we needed was to have a look at players and try some combinations. The real battle is in Nigeria,” he said.
Flames leave Botswana tomorrow for Ghana where they will proceed to Nigeria on Thursday.
Below is the starting lineup for the Flames against Botswana’s Zebras:
Goalkeeper: Charles Swini
Defenders: James Sangala, Foster Namwela, Moses Chavula and John Lanjesi
Midfiedlers: Phillip Masiye, Chimango kayira, Peter Wadabwa and John Banda
Strikers: Robert Ng’ambi and Atusaye Nyondo
