Before Beyonce shocked the world by suddenly releasing an album and a whopping 17 music videos in one go, Rihanna was the go to girl for album surprises and exciting videos.
And while she may have been slightly eclipsed by the older singer’s latest offering, the 25-year-old has had her own reason to celebrate this week – she has broken the record for the most number one pop songs in the Billboard chart.
But rather than hitting the town to party Rihanna, was seen heading to the recording studio on Thursday afternoon in New York, ready to make some more record-breaking hits.
The Bajan beauty achieved the feat after her single Monster with Eminem went straight to the top of the Billboard charts in the US
The singer now has a total of 13 number ones, tying her only with Michael Jackson and passing Madonna and her good pal Katy Perry along the way – who has achieved 11 number ones.
The single also reached number one in UK – marking her eighth UK number one.
It also made her the third act ever to the achieve seven number ones in seven consecutive years – Elvis Presley and The Beatles are the only other acts to achieve this.
No rest: Despite finding out she has achieved 13 number ones in the US Rihanna was back to work on Thursday
Delighted with her achievement, the star tweeted: ‘Wow!! I cant tell yall how I’m shaking! I cant believe this!! You did this!! #13 number 1’s! Where dey do dat at? Hardly! Yall epic az phuck’

Rihanna has reached number one previously in the US with Diamonds, We Found Love, S&M, What’s My Name, Only Girl (In The World), Love The Way You Lie, Rude Boy, Disturbia, Live Your Life, Take A Bow, Umbrella and S.O.S.
But there was no time to celebrate as the singer was back in the studio again on Thursday.
Wrapped up against the chill in the city she wore a large padded jacket over simple black jeans, T-shirt and boots.
Her hair was tied off her face in a half ponytail and she covered her eyes with a pair of large sunglasses.
The news comes as it was revealed that she has been ordered to attend a deposition in an ongoing lawsuit involving her former Beverly Hills home.
In 2011 she sued several companies over water leaks at a mansion in Beverly Hills, California that she bought for $6.9 million in 2009.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Yvetee Palazuelos issued the order in the ongoing case between the entertainer and LaRocca Inspection Associates Inc.
