Flames most experienced striker Esau Kanyenda has dominated end of season awards at his Premier Soccer League side Polokwane City.
He was named player of the season as well as top goal scorer for the just ended season at awards ceremony held on Thursday.
Kanyenda’s achievement is no surprise after the striker helped the team to earn promotion to the Premier Soccer League last season.
He managed to become the side’s top goal scorer despite spending much of his time on the sidelines due to an injury after arriving at the then lower side following the expiry of his contract in Russia.
The striker, who is expected to lead the Flames attack in Nigeria when Malawi face Super Eagles, said he was honoured by the two awards.
During the ceremony Puleng Tlolane was named Young Player of the season while Maxwell Molala got the Most Improved player award.
Best goal of the season went to Siphesihle Nzimande.
“The players awards are rewarding and motivating factors for the individuals not taking away the team effort and collective in achieving better results, City chairman Johnny Mogoladi told Soccerladuma.com.
“We would like to thank the support from everyone in Limpompo Provincer who were rallying behind us during our National First Division campaign.”
