Malawi national football team arrived in Botswana on Saturday for Tuesday training match against the hosts the Zebras.
The match will be used to prepare for the Saturday World Cup qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles while Botswana want to use the game in preparation for their qualifier against South Africa.
After the game on Tuesday, the Flames fly to Nigeria on Wednesday via South Africa and Ghana and will be in Calabar on Thursday afternoon.
Meanwhile Botswana lost 3-1 to Uganda in another international friendly played on Saturday.
Emma Okwi scored a brace and another goal by Frank Kalanda ensured Uganda Cranes tamed the Botswana 3-1 in Gaborone on Saturday.
The away win is a booster for the Cranes, who face Senegal in World Cup qualifier match in Marrakech, Morocco on Saturday.
Cranes coach Micho Sredejovic, told the media that the win will help to boost the confidence of his charges.
“Many people do not give us a chance but our chance is football. We have it in front of us. If we go out there we shall get the opportunity because impossible is nothing,” Micho said before the team departed from Kampala.
Just like Malawi, the Cranes must win their ;last game against the Lions of Teranga in their make-or-break qualifier to guarantee progress to the final round of qualification.
Malawi coach Tom Saintfiet is hoping to use the game against Botswana as the last opportunity to try his tactics after beating Rwanda 1-0 in another international friendly last month.
