David Moyes has suffered yet another blow after Javier Hernandez was ruled out of Sunday’s clash at Aston Villa.
The Mexico striker picked up a knock in training and has joined Robin van Persie on an ever-increasing Old Trafford injury list.
Van Persie was ruled out for up to eight matches with a thigh injury on Friday and Hernandez’s withdrawal leaves Moyes with just two fit strikers in Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck as he tries to avoid a third successive Premier League defeat.
Moyes is refusing to use the problems as an excuse for United’s poor form following back-to-back league defeats against Everton and Newcastle.
‘It’s not like you have to delve way down into the bottom end to field teams with young players. We’re not doing that, we’ve got plenty of players.
‘There’s no excuse and I’m not looking for one either.
‘The one thing I did say when I came in, we’d give everybody an opportunity to see what they can do. They’ve got a new manager and they’ve got a chance to show me what they’re capable of.’
