Jessica Parker reveals she’s hoping to make Sex And The City 3 SOON
The first big-screen adaptation was loved by fans worldwide, while the second was panned by critics.
But despite Sex And The City 2’s poor reception, Sarah Jessica Parker has revealed she hasn’t ruled out reprising her role as Carrie Bradshaw for a third movie in the franchise.
However, the 48-year-old actress added in the interview with InStyle magazine that the follow-up film would have to happen soon – before she’s too old to break out the Manolo Blahniks again.
She said: ‘A part of me thinks there is one last chapter to tell. But timing is a peculiar thing. It isn’t a decision that can wait forever.’
Sarah Jessica added that she didn’t want the sequel to be left so long that she and her castmates would be left wearing ‘muumuus’ – a type of shapeless dress which hangs loosely from the shoulders – instead of the eye-catching fashions their characters are famous for.
The star’s comments come after her co-star Kristin Davis – who plays prim and proper Charlotte in the TV series and spin-off films – admitted in December they were in ‘discussion’ about potentially making a third movie.
She said: ‘I don’t think a third film is a pipe dream, there is discussion. People talk about it amongst the people who are the players, but I don’t know if it will come together. It would be very exciting if it did.’
However, Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda, has been less enthusiastic about the possibility of getting back together with the old gang, which also includes Kim Cattrall as man-obsessed Samantha, ten years after the HBO show ended.
Quizzed about a third film, Cynthia previously replied: ‘I think it’s fine to let it go.’
And Sex And The City author Candace Bushnell previously revealed she thinks Sarah Jessica is too old to reprise her role as Carrie once again.
Speaking last year, Candace said: ‘Look, Sarah Jessica Parker is 47. I think with the second movie, Carrie Bradshaw couldn’t be an ingenue anymore. But I think they were stuck doing what the audience wanted.’
As fans of the series and movies will know, the second spin-off film ended with Carrie being forgiven by her husband Mr Big after kissing ex-boyfriend Aiden during a holiday in Abu Dhabi.
While the remaining story to tell has yet to be revealed, fans have speculated it might see Carrie and Big start a family together.
