MCP Pres. Lazarus Chakwera to hold nationwide rallies

Malawi Congress Party’s (MCP) President, Dr Lazarus Chakwera, who has brought fresh atmosphere to the country’s politics, will hold nationwide political rallies starting with the northern region on September 7.

According to the party’s administrative secretary, Chakwera will hold the first rally at Mzuzu Upper stadium on Saturday and in Karonga the following day.

Chidaya said the rallies will be conducted across the country as one way of unveiling Chakwera to MCP loyalists.

Chakwera will be in the southern region from September 14.

Meanwhile, President of the United Democratic Front (UDF), Atupele Austin Muluzi has postponed his whistle stop tours of Phalombe district to mourn the death of the party’s National Campaign Director, Edward Chitete and two National Executive Committee members.

The three died in a road accident that happened Monday night in Ntcheu district on their way from Mtchinji district.

The whistle-stop tours were scheduled for Wednesday but postponed to unknown date.
