Nigeria players promised US$5000 bonuses

Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) has promised US$5000 each if Nigeria beat Malawi in World Cup qualifier U.J. Esuene Stadium this Saturday.
Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Aminu Maigari announced this to sports writers at a press conference in Abuja on Wednesday.
“You know recently, the Minister set up a panel to investigate, advice and come up with a resolution on the bonus row.
“So let us give them the benefit of doubt to work. But as far as the NFF is concerned, we are paying our normal five thousand dollars winning bonus,” Maigari said.
Meanwhile, Guinness Nigeria has pledged to Super Eagles players an extra US$2000 for each goal they score against Malawi.
Austin Ufomba, Guinness’s marketing and innovation director, said the company believes strongly in the ability and determination of the Super Eagles to qualify for the next round of the qualifiers.
Football Association of Malawi last month promised to pay the players special bonuses for the Nigeria tie.
But Fam General Secretary Suzgo Nyirenda, who is with the team in Nigeria, said they would announce the special bonuses later.
“As promised we will pay the players a special bonus. Nothing has changed,” Nyirenda said.
Malawi is hoping to make history by qualifying for the first ever World Cup while the Super Eagles are looking to qualify for their fifth World Cup tournament having appeared in the 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2010 editions.
Nigeria need to avoid a defeat while Malawi have to win at all cost to qualify for the last round of the campaign.
