Chelsea star Ashley Cole joined rival team-mates from Arsenal as the Gunners celebrated their Christmas party on Wednesday night – despite Jose Mourinho cancelling his players’ own festive bash.
Sportsmail understands that Cole, who is believed to have been joined by team-mates Ryan Bertrand and Andre Schurrle, joined the Gunners squad at trendy London nightspot Libertine just 24 hours after crashing out of the Capital One Cup to Sunderland – who are rock-bottom of the Barclays Premier League.
Mourinho took the decision to cancel the players’ annual Christmas party, which was due to take place at the same venue on Wednesday night.
Rivals: Cole’s Chelsea travel to Arsenal on Monday in a crunch top-of-the-table Premier League clash
Nevertheless, the trio decided to hit the town along with their London rivals – who were in fancy dress.
Coincidentally, Chelsea face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night, in a clash that could see Mourinho’s side move top of the league.
It remains to be seen how Mourinho will react to members of his squad heading out despite the fact he cancelled the players’ official party.
The players were not forbidden from going out, but the fact Mourinho vetoed the planned bash indicates he will not be hugely happy with the trio.
