Silver suspend technical panel

TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers have suspended the entire technical panel pending investigations on the team’s poor performance.
Silver chairman McDonald Mafuta Mwale confirmed that coach Franco Ndawa, his assistants Hellings Mwakasungula, Itae Nundwe and Sibusiso Padambo had been asked to stop reporting for duties.
“We need to find out what is behind the team’s poor performance. There are a lot of things, that’s why we don’t want to fire them right away,” he said.
“It’s only after the investigations are through that we can come up with a solution on whether to lift the suspension or fire them.”
In the meant time Mwale said the bankers were talking to former national team assistant coach Young Chimodzi to take over the mantle in case the technical panel is fired.
“But there are a number of issues to look into in case we want to hire Chimodzi. As you are aware he still has a contract with government as such he cannot sign another contract with us,” he said.
Reports also indicate that Silver has suspended striker Rodrick Gonani, midfielder Dave Moya and goal keeper Amadu Ali for indiscipline.
In the meantime the team is under team manager Stain Chirwa.
The development comes just after Silver lost to Blue Eagles 1-0 on Saturday at their backyard Silver Strikers.
This was the bankers’ fourth loss this season having also lost to Evirom, Mighty Wanderers and Red Lions and beat Mafco 3-0.
Silver have won four games and drawn four as well and have dropped 20 points collecting 16 points from a possible 36 in the process.
They are on position eight.
The bankers have also been unlucky in cup competitions.
On Saturday they travel to Blantyre to play Bullets FC in Carlsberg Cup round of 16 at Kamuzu Stadium.
