Standard Bank says engineers can boost the country’s economy

Standard Bank has described engineers as key in the growth of business and the country’s economy.
The bank’s Head of Marketing Chimwemwe Matonga spoke when he presented K500,000 to the Malawi Institute of Engineers (MIE) for their conference which started Thursday September 26 in the lake shore district of Mangochi.
Matonga said it was very essential to empower Engineers to meet and discuss ways of moving the country forward.

“We believe that infrastructure development is key to the development of any country, so engineers play an important role in any infrastructure development so we felt that as we a bank we need to make a contribution toward the conference which we believe creates debate on best ways to move the country forward” said Matonga.

On his part, MIE Vice President Welton Sewa hailed the bank for the financial support saying it will add value to the country’s development.
“The Agenda is to place an engineer at the right place in the economic development; we add value to the developments that takes place to make sure that these developments are up to standard, so the money will help engineers to overlook main projects taking place in the country” said Sewa.
