Most celebrities are lounging on a tropical beach this holiday season.
But not Usher.
On Monday the adventurous 35-year-old singer took to his Instagram account to share several impressive pictures from a trip to Morocco.
The set of snaps even included the singer riding atop a camel in the Sahara Desert.
Though the afternoons were hot, as soon as the sun started to go down, a chill set in.
That’s why in most of the shot, The Voice judge was all bundled up in a knit grey shemagh head wrap, which is a traditional Middle Eastern headdress used to protect from the dust, sun, and cold nights.
Usher even made light of the desert temperature drops when he captioned one of the photos: ‘Foreal dough….as the sun sets the temp drops. Nope…Let me out! Sir, please fetch me my camel…’
In addition to the shemagh, the Climax singer was draped in a black hooded long-sleeved sweatshirt, slim camouflage cargo pants, camouflage patterned socks, and a pair of boots.
The marvelous views that Usher photographed of the desert included the stunning dunes of the Sahara, the shadows of their camel caravan on the sand, and an image of him pouring an absurd amount of sand out of his boot while sitting on the hump of the desert creature.
Prior to his Moroccan excursion, the multifaceted star was seen showing off his much more slender physique while on the Panama set for his upcoming role in the boxing film Hands Of Stone.
In the movie, Usher portrays legendary boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and seemingly put in a lot of effort to look like the former world champion fighter.
For the role, the Raymond V. Raymond singer dropped at least 30 pounds, grew his hair out, and had his tattoos covered up by make-up.
The film tells the tale of another legendary fighter, Roberto Duran, the Panamanian’s trilogy of fights with Sugar Ray made up for one of boxing’s greatest rivalries.
Usher and Sugar Ray are both 5’10 so the singer was quite a fit for the role, he just had to cut weight from 180 to the boxer’s fighting weight of 146 to complete the transformation.
Hands Of Stone also stars Robert De Niro, who is no stranger to boxing films (he starred in Raging Bull and now is in Grudge Match), as well as Ellen Barken, John Turturro, and Edgar Ramirez as Roberto Duran.
It’s set for a 2014 release.
